Kitty

Once upon a time there was a stranded kitty in a dark corner... Lily saved her and here she is!
So there you have it folks, the Egglestons have another cat around the house. Good thing Dad loves cats now. Tiger and Kitty play nicely together... well that is till tiger decides he has had enough. :)

Old Sutures

It has been 5 days since I could shave, but today that will all change...
It was Saturday and the day we would finally be able to go ice skating together. I was looking forward to this part of the trip more then the rest, because I really wanted to see how she dances on ice. I was a little worried about my abilities to stay upright on the ice myself due to the fact that I haven't be in ice skates in a long time and I can still recall many bruises from trying to commute in Russia in the winter time.

I was surprised at how simple it was to propel myself on ice, shaky but simple. I had painted a more complex picture of that day in my head. We warmed up some as we talked and stretched. I began to feel comfortable on the ice. Lily was beginning to spin and hop gracefully. I wanted to figure out how to skate backwards, and I tried a few times with little success. Experimenting is how I learn. Success was found while skating on one foot, but nothing near elegance. I learned I could spread my feet somewhat to the sides and from front to back as I cruised the ice. Wanting to show off, I performed a beautifully tight back flip... OK so maybe the back flip never happened, but you get the point.

We were just about warm now, and I was ready to watch Lily fly. We gathered at the south-west corner of the rink and talked for a second. during this time I decided to see what the limitation was for leaning forward. I slowly bent my torso as my arms stretched out at my sides for balance. Then the pace in which I gradually bent over decided to increase in speed. Now at the approximate speed of gravity I descended till my chin decided it was far enough to go. Laying on the ice in contemplation of what I might learn from such an experiment I noticed new colors developing on the ice. Sadly I realized the source was my chin. I didn't mind my chin so much, but my jaw was a little sore about it all.
What a date! 3+ hours in the Provo ER waiting with nothing but a single package of peanut M&M's between us, followed by some polite people who helped fix me up. All the while Lily, dressed as an ice princess, held my hand in support. 10 stitches were used to affix my lower chin to my now upper chin. I don't think I have ever had such a great experience in an ER, nor have I ever been that happy, or happy at all for that matter, when spending a lot of money on myself.

...with the removal of my stitches. I currently sit in anticipation of the time when I can remove this itchy patch of fur from my face, which should be later today! All in all I learned that I am not smooth when it comes to dating, but more importantly that Lily is supportive of me and willing to help me when I do something silly. Thank you Lily!

Law Enforcement Update

I have recently taken the written test for SBPD and received an e-mail which congratulated me on my passing score. I'm excited for this weekend because I will be taking the written exam for CHP which is said to take 4 hours. The CHP has given me dates for a few other tests through out this month including the physical test, written psychological, and qualification appraisal panel interview. I will keep you all updated as I continue to take these tests. :)
